Seven Tunisia excursions our drivers know by heart

These are the Tunisia excursions we drive every week of the year, each one a full private day. The others trace the Cap Bon coast, the Sahel harbours and the Zaghouan hills, or spend a morning with the giraffes of Friguia Park.

Private Tunisia excursions vs the hotel desk coach

Most Tunisia excursions sold at hotel reception are shared coach tours, priced per person and often with a markup on top. As a result, a group of six pays six seats, waits at other hotels and follows the bus timetable. With your own driver, you pay per car, so the price per head drops as your group grows.

How a Tunisia excursion day runs, from 08:00 to 18:00

Every day follows the same simple rhythm, so you can plan the rest of your holiday around it. That said, your driver adapts the details to traffic, heat and your pace.

  1. Pickup at your hotel

Your driver waits at reception with your name on a sign.

  2. On the road

From 30 minutes to the Sahel to 2 h 30 to Dougga, with water on board.

  3. Morning visit

The main site first, before the heat and the coach groups.

  4. Lunch break

A local restaurant your driver knows. The meal is not included.

  5. Afternoon visit

The second stop, at your own pace.

  6. Back at your hotel

At the latest. Half days end around midday.

Who is behind this services and how it works

Excursion Tunisia is a team based in Hammamet that works directly with local drivers and vehicle owners along the coast. Because we book their cars and minivans without a middleman, you get an excellent price for the quality, checked by us, and none of the hotel desk markup. We work the way local providers do: you pay for the vehicle, not per person, so one fixed price covers your whole group.

Short answers to what travellers ask us most before they book with Excursion Tunisia.

Ask us on WhatsApp

A private day with us costs 45 € to 200 € per vehicle, not per person. The Friguia parc half day starts at 45 € for up to four people, and El Jem with Kairouan costs 90 € from Hammamet. Entry tickets are extra and paid on site.

Most first-time visitors pick Grand Tunis, which joins Carthage, Sidi Bou Said and the Tunis medina in one day. If you love Roman history, El Jem and Kairouan is the strongest single day in the country.

Hotel desks mostly sell coach seats priced per person. A private car is priced per vehicle, so for three people or more it often costs less in total. Booking online also lets you compare routes and prices first.

Not comfortably. Douz and the dunes are about six hours away each way, so a real Sahara visit needs at least two days. Our day trips stay close enough to have you back by 18:00.

No. Transport, fuel, tolls and the driver are included. Since April 2026, major sites such as El Jem and Carthage cost 20 dinars per foreign visitor and smaller ones about 10 dinars.

You pay the driver on the day, in cash, in dinars or euros. We take no deposit online, and the price confirmed in writing is the final price.

Yes. You can move or cancel your day for free up to 48 hours before pickup. Just send us a message on WhatsApp or by email.
